this week you’ve faced the intersectionality of aging, race, gender, and other social inequalities.  We often worry about the impact of social inequalities in early adulthood or youth, but they are influential throughout the life course and can result in cumulative disadvantage in later life.

Understanding privilege and disadvantage are important to understanding the aging experience.  We should also remember that it’s likely individuals occupy social locations that are a source of privilege and locations that are a source of disadvantage.
